Sleepy After Sex?

Yes this is a family centered website. But two things:

1. Where do babies come from?

2. I have had several people ask the question privately, why do they get sleepy after sex? The only silly question is the one you didn’t ask, because somebody probably has the same question.

 

Both men and women may feel sleepy after sex, though this is commonly more pronounced in men. The act frequently takes place at night, in a bed, and can be physically exhausting.

DHEA has an influence on readiness for sex, and may give a natural amphetamine like high. In women estrogen also influences receptivity, as well as provides a softness. In men testosterone peaks to sexual desire, lust. These hormones influence the initiation of the mating.

Oxytocin has been called the hormone of love at first site. There is a release of oxytocin with the touch of the skin, it gives a sense that your mate feels “just right”. Oxytocin has been associated with bonding, and equally has been shown to reduce fear and good judgment. There is further release in orgasm, of which it is also believed that it helps reduce stress levels.

Orgasm also causes release of prolactin, which is linked to the feeling of sexual satisfaction. There is a link between prolactin and sleep.

Also, For a person to reach orgasm a requirement is to lose fear and anxiety. This can be relaxing.
